Chris and Dave return for our latest NBA Finals update podcast. We recap a thrilling, fantastic, dramatic Game 5 in Toronto where the Warriors survive elimination and go from down 3-1 to down 3-2 with the series retruning to Oracle Arena for one last home game. The Warriors cleared Kevin Durant to play Game 5 with his continuing injury and he played very well... until he tore his achilles tendon and left the game, severly threatening his long term prospects in Free Agency. Was playing KD for game 5 a mistake? Later we look at the Raptors side of the game, coming back from a double digit deficit to lead by six with 2:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, only to call a timeout, stop their momentum and blow the six point lead. Did they also blow the strategy for the final possession of the game?
Not only do we look at all the nuances of Game 5, but we look ahead to the rest of the series and offer our predictions of who takes the title between a short-handed Warriors team and a hungry but inexperienced Raptors team. Do the guys predict a Toronto title in Game 6 or a winner-take all Game 7 on Sunday? All this and more on the latest "NBA Report" DITCOW show.

Podcast: NBA Report - 2019 NBA Finals, Warriors Injuries (06-04-19)
Tuesday Jun 04, 2019
Tuesday Jun 04, 2019

This week on the DITCOW "NBA Report," Chris and Dave look at the NBA Finals so far with the series tied 1-1 going back to Oakland. Dave covers why the Raptors may have let the series get away in game 2 following an 18-0 run by Golden State in the 3rd quarter. Chris runs down the Warriors injuries: Durant, ruled out for Game 3, Looney, ruled out for the rest of the series, Iguodala, possibly nursing some pain, and Thompson, ruled with a significant hamstring strain and could be less effective for Game 3. Do these injuries open the door for the Raptors or will their balanced attack so far see another setback similar to the second half of Game 2 back in Toronto? We'll offer predictions for the remainder of the series and other NBA news and notes.

Podcast: 2019 PGA Championship Recap with John and Mike (05-22-19)

Wednesday May 22, 2019

John and Mike return for this year's PGA Championship Recap Show. Bethpage Black in the NY area was the sight of a dominant performance for Brooks Koepka until the nerves took over on a very crazy final nine holes in the final round. Koepka nearly blew what was a seven stroke lead within four holes and nearly blew the touranment altogether, but friend and competitor Dustin Johnson wasn't able to save par on the 16th and 17th holes. All in all, a potentially mundane tournament, turned unusually interesting in its final afternoon. The guys look at what Koepka did to build such a big lead and how his game unravled late. Was it the most unusual finish in PGA Championship history? Also a look at the usual surprises and disappointments then our ongoing look ahead at the tournaments between now and the forthcoming U.S. Open.

This week on the "NBA Report" show, Chris and Dave break down a relatively juiceless Conference Finals round in the NBA, but one with a 2OT win for the Raptors, desperately in need of wins to tie the series with the Bucks. Meanwhile in the West, the Blazers blow an 18 point lead to the Warriors in a crippling Game 3 loss at Moda Center, leading to an eventual four game sweep for the Dubs over Portland. Next we look at what's left over for the conference finals, plus some thoughts on Magic Johnson's recent tirade against his former GM partner Rob Pelinka on the Lakers.

On this week's NBA Report, Chris and Dave run down one of the most exciting Game 7 finishes in NBA history. Kawhi Leonard ends Game 7 at the buzzer with a wild shot that bounced up, rolled around the rim, and fell in to send the Raptors to the Conference Finals over Philadelphia. Earlier on that day, C.J. McCollum and the Blazers stormed back from a 17 point deficit to take down the Nuggets on the road in their Game 7. Days earlier, Steph Curry rallies the Warriors back from a 4th quarter deficit on the road to eliminate James Harden and the Rockets. It was indeed a wild, wild semifinal round in the NBA. We'll recap all of the particulars, dig into the NBA Draft Lottery Results, then cover the new coaching regime on the Lakers: Frank Vogel and Jason Kidd.

Thursday May 09, 2019

They're back! Ari in Philadelphia and Gerry in Piscataway return for the MLB Early Season Update with Dave. Some early hot starts were quickly fizzled such as those of the Mariners and the Twins. Other teams tanked in the first month and are now storming back like the Cubs and Yankees. Still others are in seeming dire straits like the defending champion Red Sox and the Washington Nationals. The crew digs into the current standings and then look at the massive increase in home runs, odd unwritten rule nonsense with Kevin Gausman and Tim Anderson in separate incidents. Lastly some potpourri as we get into other minutiae along with a look at our season predictions so far.

This week on our "NBA Report" DITCOW show, Chris and Dave break down an exciting four-overtime classic Game 3 between the Nuggets and Blazers, where the true test of endurance settled a great game with exceptional performances by Will Barton, Nikola Jokic, C.J. McCollum, and eventually, Rodney Hood who came off the bench in the fourth overtime to make the difference. Also this week, we cover the other series in the playoff semis. The Bucks put the Celtics up against the wall with a dominant Game 4, led by Giannis and of all people George Hill. The Raptors claw back and rescue their series vs the Sixers with an inspirational 39 point performance by Kawhi Leonard in Game 4 at Philly. The Rockets climb back and even the series at 2-2 against the Warriors in four games that have been difficult to watch. The guys outline why something is still off with the Dubs while they give their due to the Rockets, even if their style tough to take.
Lastly, a look ahead to who wins their respective series and whether Kyrie Irving in particular left a bad mark on the ending of his season, and possibly his career, in Boston.

The Rockets and Warriors go at not only each other, but the officials in their Game 1, all while the Raptors and Celtics dominate the Sixers and Bucks in their Game 1's. The 76ers stormed back to take their game 2, will the same success find Milwaukee? Plus we look at a spirited start to the Blazers/Nuggets series led by great performances from Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. The Nuggets take Game 1, but the guys break down why Portland is far from down and out for the series. Plus, a review of the ongoing tension between players and officials during the NBA Playoffs.
