Mike Francesa ate a Peach!; Oakland A's slide; Random Q's (08-20-14)

Not much for topical issues this week, we'll cover odds and ends and run a rare OPEN PHONES hour for our first hour on the podcast.   On a small level we'll cover the Oakland A's slide following a blockbuster trade of Yoenis Cespedes for the Red Sox' Ace Jon Lester.  Has it not been worth the trade so far after the A's lost 7 of 8 games?  Will the A's still be confident they made the right choice following the dog days of summer?  That AND Kevin on the Cape back with Dave for an extended "Random Questions" in Hour 2 or even earlier.  Dave is going to owe Kevin a big apology!   Special note:  The title of the show has nothing to do with anything.   Next week is our NFL Preview podcast.

2014 College Football Preview; SEC; Big Ten; ACC; Pac 12; RQ's (08-13-14)

John in CT and Ron in NJ break down the College Football season with Dave on our 2014 "College Football Preview."  We cover the big storylines for the season including the new COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF format.  Plus a look at coaches in new situations such as James Franklin at Penn State, Chris Petersen at Washington, and Bobby Petrino back at Louisville.  Then, we preview all the big contenders including defending champ Florida State with returning QB Jameis Winston, and highly touted Alabama with a new QB.  Other contenders in the running such as Georgia with many seniors, Oklahoma and breakout star Trevor Knight, Oregon with Heisman Hopeful Marcus Mariotta, Ohio State with the dynamic Braxton Miller, and all the big teams from the SEC, Pac 12, Big Ten, ACC, and Big 12.  We'll cover some other conferences as well, plus look at the possible sleeper teams in College Football.  Then, our season predictions between Ron, John, and Dave.  Join us for a special College Football themed show.

2014 PGA Championship Golf Recap; Rory 's win; Rickie; Phil; Tiger (08-11-14)

John in CT and Mike in North NJ join Dave to recap a most-thrilling final round and the rest of the 2014 PGA Championship tournament.  Rory McIlroy holds off half a dozen other great competitors to win on the final round at Vallhalla in Kentucky.   McIlroy's win now puts him into very rare territory and he caps his 3rd tournament win in a row.   What does Rory's big major win, his second of the year, do for his career PLUS, Phil Mickelson shows he still has it with a terrific performance and Rickie Fowler once again comes close but no cigar.  When will Fowler have his turn in the spotlight?   AND... Tiger Woods misses the cut for only the fourth time in major appearances.  Was he fit to play the PGA Championship in the first place?  We'll cover it all along with a look ahead to the winter in Golf, wrapping up another great year on the PGA Tour. 

Return of Oh Really; NFL HOF Game; Random Q's (08-06-14)

He's back!  "Oh Really" aka Dave in Queens joins Dave after a prolonged absence from the podcast.  We're going to catch up with Dave, see what he's up to, and then chat about the upcoming NFL season.  Principally, we'll look at the Hall of Fame game and the preseason in progress.  Which new players will pan out across the league?  This begins our "DITCOW Countdown to Football Season."   In Hour 2, Kevin on the Cape and "Random Questions."

Why Time Warner Cable Stinks; MLB Trade Deadline; Random Q's (07-30-14)

Dave spends 30 minutes ranting on the incompetence of Time Warner Cable.  Why is Time Warner Cable so poor at providing good quality programming, internet service, and customer service?  How do the prices keep going up all the time?  Why is TWC usually rated amongst the worst cable providers in America?   Everyone complains about Time Warner Cable, and this week, Dave will go over the many MANY things they do wrong.  PLUS in the second half hour, we preview MLB's potential trade deadline deals.  Where does Matt Kemp go?  Will Jon Lester or Cole Hamels go to new teams?  In hour 2, Kevin on the Cape re-joins Dave for "Random Questions" as we enter the dog days of summer.

2014 Open Championship Recap; Rory McIlroy; John in CT & Mike in NJ (07-23-14)

John in CT and Mike in North NJ re-join Dave to talk the Open Championship.  Rory McIlroy wins in big fashion at Royal Liverpool, even with two great rounds from runners up Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia.   How big of a win is this for Rory and does it finally put him back as one of the greats of the game?   What did Rory do to accumulate two rounds at 66 strokes each?   How'd he handle the pressure of two capable opponents on the final round?   We'll cover this plus the rest of the Open Championship field PLUS more on the NBA's offseason.  Junkie is unavailable for tonight's program, but will return next week. 

Jake Winderman; LeBron Comes Home; the New Heat; Random Q's (07-16-14)

We're pleased to introduce Jake Winderman to our podcast this week!   Jake and Dave will cover LeBron's departure from the Miami Heat after four great years, plus a look at the Miami Heat today: will the new Chris Bosh/Dwyane Wade era make some noise in the NBA?   LeBron James returns to the Cleveland Cavs... what is it like for a city desperate for success to see their hometown hero back in town?   PLUS, some of the other NBA free agency moves -- Melo back to the Knicks, Pau Gasol to the Chicago Bulls, and more with Jake Winderman, son of long-time Miami Heat beat reporter Ira Winderman.  In Hour 2, Kevin on the Cape joins Dave for more Summer "Random Questions", including a few anecdotes on summer fruit and vegetables and the ongoing debate between crab and lobster.
